Product Development Connection provides inventor services in Northern Ontario (including Sudbury, North Bay, and Parry Sound).

Services - Product Development Connection

The first step is to meet with your Product Development Connection (PDC) agent. At first, you'll be offered to ask questions you may initially have. Bear in mind that you are not required to disclose your invention to get general information.

Your agent will make available a standard NON-DISCLOSURE agreement if you desire to disclose your invention. At that point, more refined responses to specific questions can be sought.

At first, your agent will be playing "devil's advocate", putting particular relevant issues on the table. The good AND the bad news will be told. This is not intended to discourage you but rather an important step since it is very critical that you understand the WHOLE picture, including the hurdles along the way (and there will be some).

At PDC, our first service is to help inventors determine patentability and feasibility of their new product idea. The reality is that only a small percentage of product ideas ever go to production. For those inventors who choose to move forward with their products, we offer the following services:

Patent Search - The patent search is the first step in the patent process and will help determine the likelihood of getting patent approval.

CAD - Computer-aided design (CAD) moves your project from rough design to accurate product designs in 2D and 3D.

Prototypes - Prototypes are physical, working models used for testing and design enhancement. These help all parties refine the design, materials and functional properties of the soon-to-be product.

Product Testing - Testing your product for durability, functionality, and safety will ensure liability is at a minimum.

Survey - Surveys provide specific feedback from your target markets. Sample size will be determined by your budget.

Research - Industry specific research is a key element in successful product development, such as finding manufacturers, distributors etc.

Packaging Development - Designing the right packaging can save you money and help sell your product.

Graphic Art - Graphic art is a general term which includes trademark development, marketing support materials, product instructions, labels, and more.

Manufacturing Tender - Tender your product to manufacturers to find possible suppliers and costs.

Trademark Search - The trademark search is the first step in the trademark registration process.
